Best Oil-Filled Radiators and Electric Heaters UK 2026: Which One Suits Your Room?
When you only need to warm one room, a plug-in heater can be simpler than turning up the whole house. The choice comes down to three things: how big the room is, how you want to control the heat (a simple dial, a timer, or your phone) and how it looks. This guide compares six heaters from VonHaus and Blueair using what each brand says about its own product: power, room size, controls and safety features. Prices are checked every night on the stores' own websites.

Room sizes are the brands' own figures. A room with high ceilings, old windows or poor insulation will need more power than a well-insulated room of the same size.
Oil-filled radiator, stove heater or fan heater?
Oil-filled radiators heat oil sealed inside the fins, which then warms the room steadily and quietly. They suit bedrooms, home offices and living rooms where you want even background heat for hours. VonHaus describes its 11-fin model's U-shaped fins as spreading warmth more evenly than straight fins.
Electric stove heaters blow warm air and add an LED log-fire effect behind glass. They're about the look as much as the heat: VonHaus says both of its stove heaters are only suitable for occasional use or in well-insulated rooms, so they're not the choice for heating a cold room all day.
3-in-1 units like the Blueair ComfortPure T10i combine an air purifier, a heater and a cooling fan, so they work all year rather than only in winter.
Best for most rooms: VonHaus 9 Fin Oil Filled Radiator 2000W
The simplest pick. VonHaus says it heats rooms up to 25m², with three power settings (800W, 1200W and 2000W) chosen with touch buttons, and an adjustable thermostat that keeps the room at the temperature you set. It rolls on four castor wheels, so you can move it from the living room to the kitchen, and VonHaus delivers it with a 2-year warranty.
Good for: a bedroom or study, if you want plain controls and no app.

11 Fin 2500W Smart Oil Filled Radiator with Digital Display - Black
£74.99 £94.99
VonHaus sells two 2500W smart oil-filled radiators, both controlled through the Tuya app with Alexa and Google Home, plus a remote.
- The U-shaped fin model has four settings (1000W, 2000W, 2500W and Eco), a touchscreen, a 24-hour timer and is rated for rooms up to 30m². Its display switches off after 10 seconds, which helps in a bedroom.
- The digital display model has two heat settings (1000W or 2500W), a thermostat from 5°C to 35°C, and Eco, Comfort and anti-frost modes. In Eco mode it adjusts its power to hold your chosen temperature.
Good for: larger living rooms, or if you want the heater to come on before you get home.
Best for a cosy look: VonHaus electric stove heaters
Both have an LED log-fire effect behind glass, without a real flame.
- 1850W Large Black Stove Heater: two heat settings (925W and 1850W), a thermostat that switches the heater on and off with the room temperature, a fan-only mode for summer, and a fire effect you can use without heat. VonHaus quotes rooms up to 53m², and it has a safety thermal cut-off. Size: L61 x W34 x H67cm.
- 2000W Panoramic Log Store Stove Heater: glass on three sides and a log store underneath, 1000W and 2000W settings, an adjustable thermostat and automatic shut-off against overheating. Size: H74.5 x W32 x L44.5cm, weight 17.5kg.
VonHaus says both are only suitable for occasional use or in well-insulated rooms.
All year round: Blueair ComfortPure T10i
Blueair's 3-in-1 heats, cools and purifies. Blueair says it cleans a 16m² room in 12.5 minutes (39m² in 30 minutes), and that it shuts off automatically to prevent overheating and has an anti-tip sensor that turns it off if it falls over. It's the most expensive heater here, so it makes most sense if you also want an air purifier or a summer fan.
Blueair delivers free next working day on orders of £50 and over across UK mainland (orders before 12pm, Monday to Friday) and offers a 30-day money back guarantee.
What will it cost to run?
Every electric heater turns electricity into heat, so the running cost depends on the power it draws and your electricity unit rate, not on the type of heater. On full power a 2,000W heater uses 2kWh in an hour. To get the cost per hour, multiply the kW by the unit rate on your energy bill: for example, 2kW × your pence per kWh.
Ways to use less:
- Use the thermostat. Once the room reaches the temperature you set, the heater switches off or turns down instead of running at full power.
- Use a lower setting. All the VonHaus radiators here have lower power settings (800W or 1000W).
- Use the timer or app so it only runs when you're in the room.
- Heat the room you're in and keep the door shut.
Safety tips
- Look for overheat protection. The VonHaus 1850W stove heater has a safety thermal cut-off, the 2000W log store stove heater shuts off automatically if it overheats, and the Blueair T10i does both: it shuts off to prevent overheating and has an anti-tip sensor.
- Read the instructions that come with your heater for where to put it, what to keep clear of it and which socket to use, and follow them.
- Stove heaters are for occasional use: VonHaus says so for both of its models, unless the room is well insulated.

FAQs
Is an oil-filled radiator better than a fan heater?
They suit different jobs. An oil-filled radiator gives steady, quiet heat for hours, which suits bedrooms and offices. A fan or stove heater warms a space quickly, and VonHaus says its stove heaters are for occasional use or well-insulated rooms.
What size oil-filled radiator do I need?
Use the brand's room-size figure as a guide: VonHaus quotes up to 25m² for its 2000W 9-fin radiator and up to 30m² for its 2500W U-shaped fin smart radiator. Poor insulation or high ceilings need more power.
What's the cheapest electric heater to run?
The cost depends on the power used and your unit rate, not the heater type. A 2,000W heater on full power uses 2kWh an hour; a thermostat, lower settings and a timer all cut how long it runs at full power.
Can I control a VonHaus radiator from my phone?
Yes, the two VonHaus 11-fin 2500W smart radiators work with the Tuya app, Alexa and Google Home, and come with a remote.
Are there VonHaus discount codes?
