Most of the animated props start moving when they're touched or hear a loud noise, such as a knock or a scream. Batteries aren't included where the table says so, so buy them with the prop.
Best jump scare by the door: HOMCOM Crawling Zombie
HOMCOM's 5.2ft zombie crawls towards people when it senses them, with blinking red eyes and a howling sound. It's triggered by touch or loud noises, its arms bend into position, it runs on batteries so it doesn't need a socket, and there's no assembly. HOMCOM says it's for indoor and covered outdoor use, so a porch is ideal.
The witches: which one?

HOMCOM 180cm Life Size Animated Witch Halloween Decorations Outdoor Indoor
£58.99 £99.99

-33%
- 180cm Life Size Animated Witch: the most elaborate. A motorised face that changes from one face to another as music plays, red LED eyes, cackling and ghostly howls, and spoken English phrases when touched, by sound or by vibration. Powered by 4 AA batteries (not included).
- 190cm Witch with Broomstick: the tallest. Her head turns, her hands wave, her eyes glow red and the pumpkin she carries lights up, and she talks. The arm bends into the pose you want.
- 5'2" Hunchback Witch: a smaller one whose head and shoulders move, with red eyes and a scary sound, on 3 AA batteries (not included). The sections fit together.
For the porch or a tree: Hanging Swing Ghost
A 170cm ghost on a swing, with a pale face, tangled black hair and a tattered white dress. When triggered by sound, touch or vibration, her eyes flash red and her body vibrates to eerie music while she howls. It runs on 3 AA batteries (not included), so you can hang it from a porch or a tree away from a socket.
Biggest for the garden: 9ft Inflatable Pumpkin Ghost
At 9ft (2.7m) this is the one people will see from the street. It has six lights inside, inflates and deflates by itself when you plug it in or out, and comes with its fan, 3 guy ropes, 7 ground stakes and 3 sandbags. It's mains powered, so you'll need an outdoor socket or a safe way to run power outside, and its IP44 rating means it's suitable for mild outdoor weather.
Indoor touches: mugs, bunting and a pumpkin wax melt
- Emma Bridgewater Spooky Sampler bunting: 5 metres of cotton bunting for the mantelpiece, banisters or front door.
- Emma Bridgewater Halloween mugs: handmade, hand-decorated English earthenware half-pint mugs, including Pumpkins and Country Creatures Halloween Fancy Dress, listed as seconds. The Dancing Witches bowl and platter are in the same collection.
- Yankee Candle Pumpkin Cinnamon Swirl wax melt from Candles Direct: cinnamon, caramel and clove, with nutmeg, pumpkin dough, toasted pecans, vanilla and brown sugar. Up to 8 hours of fragrance per melt, used in a wax warmer.

FAQs
Are Halloween animatronics battery-powered?
Most of the HOMCOM props in this guide run on batteries (the hunchback witch and hanging ghost take 3 AA, the 180cm witch 4 AA, not included), so they don't need a socket. The 9ft inflatable is mains powered.
Can I leave Halloween animatronics outside?
HOMCOM describes several of them as for indoor and covered outdoor use, so a porch or other sheltered spot is best. The 9ft inflatable is IP44 rated for mild outdoor weather.
How do animated Halloween props start?
The HOMCOM props here are triggered by touch or loud sounds, and some by vibration; the crawling zombie senses people coming close.
Is there an Aosom discount code for Halloween?
Aosom has seasonal codes live as we write, shown in the codes box at the top of this guide and on our Aosom page, and gives new customers 10% off a first order when they sign up.
How we checked this guide
Every product fact in this guide comes from the brand's own product description, checked on 13 October 2026, and Aosom's delivery terms on aosom.co.uk. Prices are read on each store's own product page every night; the store's checkout shows the final price. We haven't tested these products ourselves, so we don't rate them: we compare what each brand says it does.
