How to choose: capacity, output and backup
Capacity (Wh) is how long it lasts. As a rough guide, divide the capacity by the appliance's power: 1024Wh running a 100W device gives about 10 hours, a little less once you allow for the power lost in conversion. EcoFlow's own example: the RIVER 3 Plus (286Wh) can run a 3W Wi-Fi router for up to 35 hours.
Output (W) is how big an appliance it can run. The RIVER 3 (300W) suits phones, laptops, lights and a router. To run a kettle, a microwave or power tools, you need DELTA-class output: EcoFlow says the DELTA 3 Classic's 1800W handles high-demand appliances like microwaves, and the DELTA 3 Max Plus's 3000W runs a microwave, kettle, fridge and blender at the same time.
UPS is what matters in a power cut. With a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) function, the power station sits between the wall socket and your device and takes over when the mains fails. EcoFlow quotes a switch-over of 10ms on the DELTA 3 models and under 10ms on the RIVER 3 Plus, so a router or a desktop computer keeps running.
Battery life. All of these use LiFePO4 batteries. EcoFlow quotes 3,000 charging cycles to 80% capacity for the RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 Plus ("around 10 years of everyday use") and 4,000 cycles for the DELTA 3.

- DELTA 3 Classic: 1024Wh with 1800W pure sine wave output (3600W surge, X-Boost up to 2400W) for things like a microwave or power tools. EcoFlow says it charges from 0 to 80% in 45 minutes from the mains, or fully in 2.5 hours from 500W of solar.
- DELTA 3 Plus: the same 1800W output, but expandable from 1 to 5kWh with extra batteries and the fastest charging here: 0 to 100% in 56 minutes from the mains (1500W input), 70 minutes from solar, or 1.3 hours from an 800W car charger. EcoFlow quotes 4,000 cycles to 80% capacity.

What size portable power station do I need for a power cut?
For a router, phones, lights and a laptop, a RIVER 3 or RIVER 3 Plus (245Wh to 286Wh) is enough for hours: EcoFlow says the RIVER 3 Plus runs a 3W router for up to 35 hours. To keep a fridge or kitchen appliances going, choose a DELTA 3 model with 1kWh or more and 1800W or more of output.
Can a portable power station run a kettle?
Only one with enough output. A kettle needs well over 1000W, so the RIVER 3 (300W) and RIVER 3 Plus (600W) can't run one. EcoFlow's DELTA 3 Classic and DELTA 3 Plus have 1800W output, and the DELTA 3 Max Plus 3000W.
What is UPS on a power station?
